We Didn’t Direct Banks To Disburse Old Notes, CBN Says, According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), it never sent a new instruction to commercial banks directing them to abide with last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling allowing the continued use of the old and new naira notes until December 31.
CBN spokesman, Isa Abdulmumin, who spoke to Daily Trust, said the apex has not issued an official statement.
A senior management source also said:-We Didn’t Direct Banks To Disburse Old Notes, CBN Says, According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), it never sent a new instruction to commercial banks
“Both the old and new notes are legal tender, and banks are currently issuing them to customers. Nigerians should not reject any note, whether old or new.”
